Taisho University is a Buddhist-affiliated private institution founded on the principle of 'the practice of wisdom and compassion,' embodying the spirit of Mahayana Buddhism. This principle reflects the way of life of a bodhisattva, who strives for personal enlightenment while dedicating themselves to the well-being of others. Simply put, it represents those who pursue self-improvement while acting for the happiness of others. The university aspires for its students not only during their time at Taisho but throughout their lives to live like bodhisattvas. This founding philosophy encapsulates such aspirations.

Located in Brooklyn, the New York Satellite Campus is situated in rich diverse cultures where concepts such as sustainability, well-being, and mindfulness are deeply ingrained, this center for Japan-U.S. cultural exchanges serves as a hub for constant innovation. By establishing this space as Taisho University's New York Satellite Campus and engaging with the various companies and organizations of diverse races and nationalities that gather in this community, the goal is to embody and enhance the university's founding philosophy of 'the practice of wisdom and compassion' and the values of its six distinctive faculties. 建学の理念「智慧と慈悲の実践」

大正大学は仏教系の私立大学で、大乗仏教の精神である「智慧と慈悲の実践」を建学の理念としています。「智慧と慈悲の実践」は仏教における菩薩の生き方を表したものです。菩薩とは自らの修行の完成と衆生の救済を志す人を意味します。わかりやすくいえば、自己の研鑽に励むとともに、他者の幸福を願って行動する者です。大学に在籍している期間だけでなく、生活を通じて菩薩のように生きてほしい。大正大学の建学の理念には、そのような願いが込められています。

ニューヨークに新設のサテライトキャンパスは、ブルックリンという多様な文化があり、ウェルビーイング、マインドフルネスというコンセプトが浸透し、日々新たなるものが生まれる地域にある日米文化交流拠点のメンバーになる形で、この場所を大正大学のニューヨークサテライトキャンパスとし、このコミュニティに集う様々な人種国籍の企業や団体と交流、創発することで、大正大学の建学の理念「智慧と慈悲の実践」と特徴的な６つの学部の価値を試し、高め、日本と世界に発信していくことが目的です。
